Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of a 45-year-old Fort Mill man on six felony charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor.
John David Anderson was taken into custody on May 20, 2026. The arrest was executed by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the York County Sheriff’s Office. The Attorney General’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations, both member agencies of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with the operation.
The investigation began after local authorities received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to digital evidence uncovered by investigators, Anderson allegedly possessed and distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Anderson has been booked into the local detention facility and faces multiple statutory violations under South Carolina law, including:
-
Two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor: A felony offense carrying a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison for each count.
-
Four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor: A felony offense also punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment on each individual count.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. Authorities emphasize that the investigation into local network activity remains ongoing.
