A fatal crash claimed the life of a pickup truck driver Saturday evening in Lancaster County when a semi-truck attempted a U-turn on a rural road.
The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Flat Creek Road and Pit-A-Tat Road in Lancaster County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling east on Flat Creek Road when it struck a westbound tractor-trailer that was making a U-turn at the intersection.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed. No passengers were present in either vehicle at the time of the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident. Additional information was not immediately available as of Sunday morning.
