Glenda Ann Phillips Arant, 79, of Lancaster, SC, passed away at her home after a brief illness following an injury from a fall. Born in Lancaster to the late Robert Phillips and Frances Montgomery Phillips, Glenda lived in Lancaster her entire life and lovingly raised her family there.
She was the devoted wife of the late Jerry Franklin Arant, with whom she shared 30 years of marriage. Glenda is survived by her daughter Sharon Newton Lowery (Mike); her son Mark Newton (Kaye); four grandsons, Michael Lowery (Lindsay), Justin Lowery (Kelly), Jeremy Newton and Hunter Newton, and three great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Lexi and Emma Lowery. She also leaves one brother, Johnny Phillips (Janice). Also survived by Patty Arant, Charles and Irene Arant, Jo Arant, Linda Arant and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Phillips and sister in laws Sue Phillips and Lois Phillips. Also preceded in death were Woodrow and Gladys Arant, Frank Arant, Jamie Arant, Margie and Lawrence Rollins, Johnny Arant and a nephew Brian Phillips.
Glenda retired from Comporium Communications, a place she loved and where she formed lasting friendships, including her best friend, Rhonda Cauthen. She loved shopping and watching the Hallmark Channel. A faithful Christian, Glenda loved the Lord. And she loved Southern Gospel music and was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
A graveside service will be held at Lancaster Memorial Park on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00. Pastor Larry Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service.
