Body of Missing Lancaster County Man Found Near Home

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the discovery of the body of Ronald Todd Estridge, a man reported missing on January 7, 2025. The body was found just before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, in an elevated wooded area off Cannery Road in the Buford Community, a short distance from Estridge’s home.

A resident of the area noticed the body while on his way home from work and alerted authorities. Personnel from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster County Emergency Management, and Spartanburg County Search and Rescue had been searching the area throughout the day, assisted by search K-9 units. Once the body was discovered, the scene was secured until crime scene investigators and the county coroner arrived to process it.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that there is no indication of foul play at this time. However, the cause and manner of death remain under investigation, pending autopsy results and further inquiry by the coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office.

“We are disappointed in the outcome of this search,” said Sheriff Barry Faile in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Estridge’s family and friends. Although this didn’t end like we all hoped it would, at least the family will not have to live with the uncertainty of where Mr. Estridge is. The sheriff’s office appreciates the help we received from all agencies who participated in this days-long search and from all citizens who called in information about Mr. Estridge.”
