Fort Mill Prepares for New Downtown Parking Lot Construction

Fort Mill, SC – The Town of Fort Mill is moving forward with its plans to enhance parking in the downtown business district. Construction of a new municipal parking lot is set to begin the week of February 3, 2025, at the intersection of Tom Hall and Springs Streets, the former site of Hardee’s restaurant.

Preparations for the project will start on January 27, when the parking lot will be closed to the public. Crews will install perimeter fencing, security measures, and signage around the site. The construction is expected to take approximately five months, contingent on weather conditions.

The new lot will feature 67 parking spaces, along with updated lighting and landscaping, aimed at supporting the town’s bustling Main Street area. Mayor Guynn Savage expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The town continues to push forward with completing our new parking option downtown. Many are using our free parking to access the great restaurants and businesses in our Main Street corridor, and we look forward to finishing this project for our community.”

During construction, drivers are advised to exercise caution in the area and utilize alternative parking options. The project underscores the town’s commitment to fostering growth and accessibility in the downtown district.
