York, SC – York School District One is proud to announce the success of a district-wide food drive to support PATH of York. During the first two weeks of September, students, staff, parents, and the entire York School District One community participated in a “Can the Eagles” food drive in collaboration with the longstanding rivalry between York and Clover high school football teams. The district-wide food drive collected canned goods to help support the local food pantry during a time of shortage.
“This food drive is about more than canned goods—it is about community. When our students, staff, and families come together, we show what it truly means to be Connected as ONE. Every can donated represents a reminder that in York School District One, every person deserves to be seen, to be heard, and to belong,” said Dr. Heath Branham, Superintendent of York School District One.
On Friday, September 12, 2025, Superintendent Heath Branham along with Cricket Comer, Executive Director of PATH, Inc. and Arlene Richardson Maier of PATH, Inc. presented Jefferson Elementary School Principal Mattie Hughes and Assistant Principal Vanessa Heffley with a celebratory trophy for collecting 1,317 cans of the district’s 5,595 total collection.
“PATH is deeply grateful to York School District One for organizing such an incredible district-wide food drive. Your generosity and commitment to caring for others will help ensure that families in our community don’t go hungry. Together, you’ve made a powerful difference!” said Cricket Comer, Executive Director of PATH, Inc.
