The town will drain both water storage tanks for routine inspections, a process that could cause temporary pressure fluctuations but no expected service outages.
Based on a release from Town of Fort Mill.
The Town of Fort Mill will perform routine maintenance and inspections on both of its water storage tanks over the coming weeks, according to the town. Each tank must be completely drained to complete the work, a process that may take up to 48 hours because of the tanks’ size.
Residents near the tanks may notice water in the surrounding areas during the controlled draining process, the town said. Customers in those areas may also experience temporary fluctuations in water pressure, but no customers are expected to be without water service during the drainage.
Drainage of the Doby’s Storage Tank at 868 Putnam Rd. begins Sunday, July 12 at 9 p.m. and is expected to be complete by Tuesday, July 14 at 5 p.m.
Drainage of the Bass Street Water Storage Tank at 130 Bass St. begins Sunday, July 26 at 9 p.m. and is expected to be complete by Tuesday, July 28 at 8 p.m.
The town said the maintenance is meant to help ensure the continued reliability and safety of Fort Mill’s water system.
