Fort Mill, S.C. – Heather Hart, an educator, author, and community advocate, has filed for the Democratic nomination for the South Carolina House of Representatives District 66, serving Fort Mill and Tega Cay.
“My campaign is about listening to the residents of Fort Mill and Tega Cay. I’m running to be a voice for the heartbeat of our community – our neighbors who deserve real solutions and a tangible way forward.”
As a parent of two Fort Mill School District students, Hart sees the challenges facing local families every day. Alongside her husband, a small business owner, she understands that while the area is growing rapidly, many families feel their resources are stretched too thin. Hart offers a fresh perspective centered on building a stronger future where every neighbor has the opportunity to thrive.
“Our community is growing quickly, but too many residents feel like they’re being sidelined. Their concerns aren’t being heard or represented. This campaign is about putting people and families first in District 66. We need practical, courageous leadership that focuses on strong schools, child safety, responsible growth, and a cost of living that everyday families can afford. It’s time for your government to work as hard as you do.”
Hart is focused on investing in strengthening public education by retaining quality educators, and ensuring funding is used appropriately. She is committed to real affordability by addressing the rising costs of healthcare, utilities, and childcare that are squeezing families. As the community grows, she will work to ensure that growth benefits roads, infrastructure, and schools. Hart also believes in safe communities where children are protected both online and in their neighborhoods through smart prevention and real accountability.
“As a volunteer and educator, I see firsthand the pressures facing our schools and families every day. We need to invest in our teachers, support students with diverse needs, and ensure tax dollars are actually making it into the classroom. At the same time, we must tackle the rising costs families face and make sure growth pays for growth so our infrastructure, schools, and safety can support the rapidly expanding community.”
Hart brings a unique blend of academic training, professional experience, and local involvement to the race. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from Taylor University, as well as a Master of Arts in New Testament from Northern Seminary. Her professional background includes small business owner, data analysis, research, and managing organizational systems across both the private and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, she has been engaged in academic research and writing, and serving as a substitute teacher in Fort Mill schools. Hart is a Catawba Ridge High School Band Board Member and Wrestling Parent Administrator. Hart also teaches Bible Study at Unity Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill.
