Meet Waffle House and Binky: York County Humane Society Pets of the Week

The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is looking to find forever homes for two deserving animals this week. Whether you are looking for a feline friend with a unique backstory or a young pup ready to be your best friend, the shelter has the perfect match for you.

Cat of the Week: Waffle House

Sometimes, a name says it all. This week’s Cat of the Week, Waffle House, got her unique moniker because that is exactly where she was found. Brought into the rescue as a stray, this beauty is approximately 5 years old and is ready to settle down.

Waffle House is described as a total sweetie who enjoys the company of other feline friends. She is spayed, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped. Despite her sweet nature, she has been waiting at the rescue for 101 days. She is patiently waiting for a connection, but she shouldn’t have to wait another day to find her “FURever” home.

If Waffle House melts your heart, stop by the shelter to meet her.

Dog of the Week: Binky

The Dog of the Week is a handsome 1-year-old named Binky. Binky arrived at the rescue under difficult circumstances, having been abandoned in the middle of the night. While the HSYC understands that circumstances can be difficult for pet owners, they urge the community to please come in during hours and work with the staff rather than abandoning animals, as they can often find space with just a few days’ notice.

Despite his scary start, Binky is an extremely social and loving boy. He loves his walks and makes a great walking partner. Because he is still young—”puphood” can last up to two years—he needs an adopter willing to help him with pup and potty training. However, staff members note that he is “smart as a whip” and promise you won’t be disappointed.

If you are looking for the “bestest bestie,” call 803-802-0902 to make an appointment to meet Binky today.

Shelter News & “What’s the Scoop”

The HSYC has successfully closed its 2025 Christmas Store for the season. The shelter extends a massive thank you to the many shoppers who helped raise funds for their mission. Additionally, this year’s “Secret Santa” drive was a major hit, stocking the shelter with necessary supplies for weeks to come.
