YouTube TV has begun issuing a promised $20 bill credit to subscribers who were affected by the recent removal of Disney-owned channels from the live TV streaming service. The one-time credit is a direct response to the frustration caused by the content blackout, which began on October 31 after negotiations between Google and Disney failed to reach a new licensing agreement.
The blackout resulted in the immediate loss of access to popular networks, including ABC, ESPN, FX, National Geographic, and others, leaving many subscribers without key sports, news, and entertainment programming.
Who is Eligible and How to Claim the Credit
The $20 credit is being applied to eligible subscribers as a refund on their next billing cycle. However, the method for receiving the credit differs based on how a user signed up for the service:
- For Direct Subscribers: The credit will generally not be applied automatically. Subscribers who signed up directly through YouTube TV must manually claim the credit. They can do so by:
- Opening YouTube TV on the web or follow this link.
- Tapping their profile picture and navigating to Settings.
- Scrolling down to the Updates section.
- Looking for the “Disney Content” notice, which states, “We know this is frustrating, and we deeply appreciate your membership. That’s why we’re offering you a one-time $20.00 credit.”
- Tapping Claim Credit. The amount will then be applied to their next bill.
- For Subscribers via Third Parties: Users who subscribed to YouTube TV through Google Play or another provider should see the credit automatically applied to their account.
YouTube TV began rolling out the credits on Sunday, November 9, and expects all eligible subscribers to receive them by November 12, 2025.
The payment comes while the dispute between YouTube TV and Disney is still unresolved, with Disney’s extensive catalog of channels remaining unavailable on the streaming platform as both companies continue to work toward a new deal.
I confirmed the link and received my credit this morning.
