SC High School Football Playoffs: York & Lancaster County Roadmap

The SCHSL football postseason is here, and teams across York and Lancaster counties are set for compelling first-round and early-round matchups across Class 5A Divisions I & II and Class 4A. Below is a quick, local-first guide to who plays whom, what’s at stake, and how the brackets line up for our area programs. Official SCHSL football brackets are available here.

Quick Take

  • Game of the week (local): Fort Mill at Catawba Ridge—winner gets a showdown at No. 1 Northwestern.
  • Best title path: South Pointe (4A) and Northwestern (5A-D2) both own top-seeded lanes and home-field leverage deep into November.
  • Upset watch: Nation Ford at Greenville—Falcons have played a rugged schedule and could spring a surprise on the road.

Class 5A – Division I (Upper State)

Rock Hill opens at home as a 5-seed against Spring Valley (12). Clover (7) also hosts, drawing Blythewood (10) in a solid 7–10 pairing. Winners advance to face the top four seeds on Nov. 14 (Dutch Fork, Byrnes, Dorman, Ridge View) according to the bracket path.

Local first-round slate (Friday):

  • (12) Spring Valley at (5) Rock Hill
  • (10) Blythewood at (7) Clover.

If they advance (Nov. 14):

  • Rock Hill/Spring Valley winner at (4) Byrnes
  • Blythewood/Clover winner at (2) Dorman.


Class 5A – Division II (Upper State)

This side of the bracket is stacked with local head-to-heads and heavyweights.

  • Catawba Ridge (8) hosts crosstown rival Fort Mill (9) in a marquee county matchup.
  • Nation Ford (10) travels to Greenville (7).
  • Northwestern (1), the defending 5A-D2 champ, is lined up to host the Catawba Ridge/Fort Mill winner on Nov. 14.
  • Indian Land (3) draws the Riverside/Hillcrest winner on Nov. 14.

Local first-round slate (Friday):

  • (9) Fort Mill at (8) Catawba Ridge
  • (10) Nation Ford at (7) Greenville.

Second round (Nov. 14):

  • Fort Mill/Catawba Ridge winner at (1) Northwestern
  • Riverside/Hillcrest winner at (3) Indian Land.

Why it matters: If Catawba Ridge or Fort Mill advances, we get a county showdown at District 3 Stadium versus top-seed Northwestern, a rematch-laden scenario that local fans know well.


Class 4A (Upper State)

Lancaster County joins a crowded York County field in 4A.

  • South Pointe (1) begins at home versus Beaufort (16).
  • York (12) travels to A.C. Flora (5).
  • Lancaster (13) hits the road to Seneca (4).

Local first-round slate (Friday):

  • (16) Beaufort at (1) South Pointe
  • (12) York at (5) A.C. Flora
  • (13) Lancaster at (4) Seneca.

What to watch: South Pointe, a perennial title threat, has a clear path to make noise again. Meanwhile, York and Lancaster head into tough road environments looking for upsets.
