The Humane Society of York County is spotlighting two deserving seniors who’ve waited far too long for their happily-ever-after. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, fostering, or simply spreading the word, this is the week to make a difference.
Cat of the Week: Carla
Carla is a poised, gray-and-white beauty who keeps the youngsters in line in the Cat Lounge. She was surrendered through no fault of her own and, truth be told, her feelings are still a little bruised. At about 7½ years old and 1.4 years into shelter life, she should be spending her senior days bird-watching from a sunny window—not a kennel.
Carla is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested—fully ready to go home. She’s a cat who knows what she likes; give her time to settle, respect her signals, and you’ll discover a wonderfully companionable friend. Meet Carla by appointment: 803-802-0902.
Dog of the Week: Hope
Hope’s name says it all. Originally surrendered to Animal Control years ago, she arrived at HSYC emaciated and in need of care—and the team delivered. Now, at a little over 8 years old (about 60 lbs), she’s healthy, affectionate, and desperate to trade shelter routines for family life. She’s spent 6½ years in rescue—far too long for a dog who loves walks and lap cuddles in equal measure.
Hope is a “unicorn” adoption with a few special parameters: she should be the only pet, would thrive in a mature household (adult kids are great), and needs an experienced handler because she’s stout and strong. Like all HSYC pets, she’s spayed, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped. If her story tugs at your heart, call 803-802-0902 to meet her.
