Pleasant Knoll Elementary Named Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School

FORT MILL, SC — Pleasant Knoll Elementary School has been recognized as a 2025 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School by the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence organization. This prestigious designation highlights the school’s commitment to academic excellence, student support, and community engagement.

The recognition follows an extensive evaluation process, which included comprehensive surveys and a two-day site visit. During the visit, evaluators observed classrooms and conducted interviews with students, parents, and teachers to assess the school’s overall performance.

Lighthouse Schools are recognized for excelling in nine key categories:

  • Student Focus and Support
  • School Organization and Culture
  • Challenging Standards and Curriculum
  • Active Teaching and Learning
  • Technology Integration
  • Professional Community
  • Leadership and Educational Vitality
  • School, Family, and Community Partnerships
  • Indicators of Success

Designation as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School lasts for five years, after which the school will be eligible for renewal. Schools that receive this honor commit to sharing best practices and providing mentorship to other schools at local, regional, and national levels. Pleasant Knoll Elementary will also participate in networking opportunities to assist schools seeking improvement and innovation in education.

“This is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our students, the tireless efforts of our faculty, and the continued support of our community,” said Principal Chad Allen. “It’s a celebration of the collective efforts that make Pleasant Knoll Elementary truly a unique place to be.”
