Roanoke Island Historical Association to Hold Auditions with Catawba Nation for 88th Season of The Lost Colony

The Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA) is partnering with the Catawba Nation to host auditions for the 88th season of The Lost Colony, the nation’s longest-running outdoor symphonic drama.

Cultural Coordinator Kaya Littleturtle, alongside members of the RIHA, will conduct auditions on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Catawba Nation Longhouse, located at 996 Avenue of the Nations, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730.

RIHA is seeking members of the Catawba Nation to help bring to life the story of the Algonquin Natives who lived along North Carolina’s Eastern Shore when they encountered English settlers in 1584. This collaboration aims to ensure authenticity in telling the historical narrative of Native peoples during this pivotal moment in American history.

What to Expect at the Auditions

No preregistration is required for participation. Auditionees may be asked to:

  • Perform a scene from the play,
  • Sing a piece of their choice,
