CLOVER, SC – Residents of Clover and surrounding areas will have a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of local law enforcement through the Clover Police Department’s upcoming Police Citizens Academy. The program is designed to educate the public on the policies and practices that guide the town’s police officers in their daily duties.
The eight-week academy will offer participants a comprehensive overview of various aspects of law enforcement. Attendees can expect to learn about the extensive training and expectations placed upon Clover police officers, gain insight into traffic laws and their enforcement, and receive detailed information regarding the department’s policies on the use of force, including demonstrations of Taser and OC spray (pepper spray). The academy will also shed light on the functions and responsibilities of the department’s specialized units.
The Clover Police Department encourages any individual aged 18 years or older to apply for the program. It is important to note that all potential applicants will be subject to a thorough background check to ensure the integrity of the academy.
While the program is open to all interested individuals, priority for available seats will be given to applicants who reside within the town limits of Clover. However, those living outside of town boundaries are still welcome and encouraged to submit an application.
Classes will be held one night per week on Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, commencing on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 6:00 PM. All training sessions will take place at the Clover Police Department, located at 112 Bethel Street.
