YORK, S.C. — During the regular City Council meeting on Wednesday, November 6, Mayor Michael Fuesser officially proclaimed Saturday, November 30th as Small Business Saturday in the City of York. This year marks the 16th annual celebration of the event, which aims to encourage community support for local small businesses.
In his proclamation, Mayor Fuesser highlighted the positive economic impact of supporting local businesses, noting that “$0.68 of every dollar spent at a small business in the United States stays in the local community.” Small Business Saturday, traditionally held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, is widely supported by advocacy groups nationwide to spotlight the importance of shopping locally, especially during the holiday season.
With Small Business Saturday approaching, the City of York is encouraging residents to visit and shop at neighborhood stores, which play a key role in strengthening the local economy.
