Vis-Ability: Why This Series Matters

A Tega Cay Lions Club Initiative

Not all disabilities can be seen, and many of our neighbors live with challenges that never show on the surface. Autism, hearing or vision loss, chronic illness, traumatic brain injuries, and mental health conditions shape daily life quietly — yet the people who live with them often face misunderstanding, judgment, or silence.

The Tega Cay Lions Club is launching Vis-Ability to help change that.

This series will highlight different invisible disabilities and offer clear, compassionate guidance on how to support those who experience the world differently. Our goal is simple: to replace assumptions with understanding, and confusion with connection.

Invisible disabilities touch nearly every family in our community. When we learn what others are facing — even if we can’t see it — we become a kinder, more accessible, more supportive Tega Cay.

As part of this project, the Lions Club will also be introducing awareness stickers and visual materials designed to spark conversation, reduce stigma, and help community members recognize that many people carry challenges that aren’t visible. These stickers will appear at events, businesses, and in future installments of this series.

Together, through education and visibility, we can create a community where every person feels seen, respected, and supported.
