Women’s Golf 2026-27 Schedule Announced, Open At Quail Hollow

Rock Hill, S.C. — Winthrop women’s head golf coach Kasay Gambrell announced the team’s 2026-27 campaign which will feature four events in the fall and five in the spring.


AOD at Quail Hollow Club

  • Aug. 24, 2026
  • Charlotte, N.C. (Quail Hollow Club)
    • Hosted the President’s Cup (2022), PGA Championship (2017, 2025) and is home to the Truist Championship
    • This event is part of the Access, Opportunity, Development Summit
  • Defending Champion: First Year

Elon Women’s Invitational (Host: Elon)

  • Sept. 14-15, 2026
  • Burlington, N.C. (Alamance County Club)
    • Host of the 1983 and 1991 North Carolina State Amateur Championship
    • Host of the 1982 NAIA National Championship
    • 2024 event was shortened to 18 holes due to inclement weather
  • Defending Champions: Elon/JMU (+4)
  • Last Winthrop Appearance: T10 (2025)

Terrier Intercollegiate (Host: Wofford)

  • Oct. 12-13, 2026
  • Spartanburg, S.C. (Country Club of Spartanburg)
    • Tom Jackson designed 18-hole championship course
  • Defending Champions: ETSU (+27)
  • Last Winthrop Appearance: 8th (2025)

UNCG Fall Collegiate (Host: UNC Greensboro)

  • Oct. 19-20, 2026
  • Greensboro, N.C. (Forest Oaks Country Club)
    • Frequent host of PGA Tour events
  • Defending Champions: UNCG (+21)

Oyster Shuck Match Play (Host: The Citadel)

    • Hosted the South Carolina State Championship and remains the home of the Charleston City Amateur.

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
