Roger Allen Johnson, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at his home. Roger was born in Chatham County, North Carolina on May 17, 1941. He was the son of the late Levi Johnson and Thelma Johnson Richard.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Lemon Springs, NC. After graduation, he went to work with A & P Ford Store. When they closed in 1976, he went in the insurance business until he retired. Roger loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Ferguson Johnson of 64 years; two sons, Bart Allen Johnson (Crystal) and Russell Bret Johnson; and two grandchildren, Amber and Jade Johnson. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, Hailey, Dallas and Riley Johnson, and Christopher Parker. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Russell Bret Johnson II.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Grace Lynwood UMC. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, July 13, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Betty Kay Hudson and Rev. Kendall Healy. Burial at Lemon Springs UMC in Lemon Springs, NC will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 at Lancaster Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Agape Care Hospice, and his nurses Mary Beth Mungo and Shederria Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Grace Lynwood UMC, P.O. Box 448, Lancaster, SC 29720.
