Lancaster County Council Selects Brian N. Tucker, IOM as County Administrator

Lancaster, S.C. — Lancaster County Council has unanimously selected Brian N. Tucker, IOM to serve as the County’s next County Administrator. Mr. Tucker will begin his duties on July 1, 2026.

“I am excited and humbled to serve as the next County Administrator of Lancaster County. Coming home to serve my family and friends is overwhelmingly surreal.” Commented Mr. Tucker, “I have watched the growth and evolution of Lancaster County over the last number of years. Lancaster County is made up of so many distinct communities. Maintaining the warmth and character of these communities while channeling the unprecedented growth is an exciting opportunity that I could not have imagined. I am thankful for the trust that County Council is showing and I cannot wait to get started.”

Mr. Tucker, a native of Lancaster County, brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, with a proven track record of operational excellence, economic development, and community revitalization. He currently serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Myrtle Beach, where he oversees daily operations for an organization of approximately 1,000 employees and a $300 million budget, with direct responsibility for more than 400 employees across multiple departments.

In Myrtle Beach, Mr. Tucker was recruited to help lead the revitalization of the City’s downtown core, a major tourism destination hosting approximately 20 million visitors annually. His portfolio includes oversight of construction and capital projects, economic development, public works, planning and zoning, and the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. He has played a key leadership role in implementing the Arts and Innovation District Master Plan and the East of Kings District, which includes significant public infrastructure investments, adaptive reuse of historic structures, and strategic partnerships with higher education and private-sector stakeholders.

Prior to his service in Myrtle Beach, Mr. Tucker served as Director of Economic Development for Georgetown County, South Carolina, where he reorganized the County’s economic development structure to foster stronger public-private collaboration and led major visioning efforts related to the Port of Georgetown and a former steel mill site. He also acted as the County’s primary liaison to private-sector employers during multiple natural disasters, coordinating response and recovery efforts with utilities and partner agencies.

Mr. Tucker previously served as President and CEO of both the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce and the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce. In those roles, he led successful financial turnarounds, strengthened organizational governance, expanded membership and programming, and advanced key policy and economic initiatives that supported business growth and community development.
A graduate of Clemson University, Mr. Tucker holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management. He is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management and holds the IOM designation. His professional development also includes completion of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute and participation in multiple leadership programs throughout South Carolina.
