Dessie Cochran Martin, 75, York, SC

Ms. Dessie Cochran Martin, age 75, of York, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Hospice and Community Care in Rock Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Reverend Barry Looper and Reverend Danielle Susigan. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.

Dessie was born on June 6, 1950, in York, SC. She was the daughter of the late Clyde Cochran, Sr. and Pauline Cope Long. She retired from the York County Board of Disabilities and was a faithful member of Sanctuary Hills Church of God of Prophecy.

In her free time, Dessie enjoyed working puzzles and, when time allowed, metal detecting. She loved her family deeply and truly embodied the role of a matriarch. Her strength, care, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Martin; her grandsons, David Martin and Kevin Martin; her sister, Frances Dover (Kenny); her brothers, Clifford Cochran (Shirley) and Clyde Cochran, Jr. (Donna); and numerous nieces and nephews.
