Bonnie Cordon Inspires Youth at Special Devotional Focused on “Walk with Me” Theme

Charlotte, NC—The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted a powerful and uplifting youth devotional Sunday evening featuring Bonnie Cordon, President of Southern Virginia University and former Young Women’s President of the global Church.

The event, drew more than 200 youth ages 14–18 from across the region, including teens from the Fort Mill area. Attendees gathered for an evening of inspiration, connection, and spiritual growth.

In her message, Cordon encouraged youth to strengthen their personal relationship with God and recognize His presence in their daily lives. “God’s size in your life depends on how close you are to Him,” she taught, inviting those in attendance to intentionally draw nearer to the Savior.

The evening also featured a musical performance by the SVU Chamber Singers, which left a lasting impression on many in attendance. Carter Gruendell, a high school senior, reflected on the experience:

“When President Cordon spoke, something that stood out to me was how she talked about people feeling the Spirit in ways that are unique to them. I personally felt the Spirit while the SVU Chamber Singers sang ‘I Stand All Amazed.’ For me, it was a mix of physical and emotional feelings. The line, ‘Confused at the grace that so fully He proffers me,’ really hit home. The Savior offers love to us in ways that we can’t always comprehend or understand, but despite that, He still offers it. I think that’s beautiful.”

Local leaders expressed gratitude for the strong turnout and the impact of the evening. Justin Blackham, the Greater Fort Mill faith leader, shared, “It was such a privilege to have President Cordon come and speak to the youth! She bore a powerful testimony and taught how we should center our lives on Jesus Christ.”

The devotional provided a meaningful opportunity for youth to reflect on their faith and feel united in their commitment to walk with Jesus Christ.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints remains committed to supporting youth through programs and events that foster spiritual development, leadership, and service.
