Atrium Health Expands Holdings Near Fort Mill with $5 Million Land Deal

Charlotte-based Atrium Health has increased its real estate footprint in York County, fueling further momentum for its upcoming hospital project. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority recently finalized a $5 million purchase of more than 10 acres located at the intersection of Interstate 77 and Sutton Road.

The acquisition places the health system near the Masons Bend community, adding to its existing property holdings in the rapidly growing corridor. While Atrium has not officially confirmed the specific location for its primary facility, the Sutton Road site now stands as one of its most substantial land assets in the region.

The land purchase is a key step toward the development of a planned $450 million medical campus. The proposed project is expected to feature a 200,000-square-foot hospital equipped with 60 beds, alongside a dedicated medical office building.

Current projections aim for the facility to open its doors in 2029, addressing the increasing demand for healthcare services in the Fort Mill and Rock Hill areas.
