Fort Mill School District Announces Flint Hill Elementary Will Resume Normal Operations

The Fort Mill School District issued the following statement early Saturday evening regarding the reopening of Flint Hill Elementary this Monday.

FLINT HILL ELEMENTARY RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION MONDAY, MARCH 9

FORT MILL, S.C. – The Fort Mill School District has continued to receive updates regarding the Silfab Solar facility. Based on the public statement below from the S.C. Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) and information we have received from local and state officials, Flint Hill Elementary will return to normal operation on Monday, March 9. SCDES March 6 update: “Silfab has agreed to continue to cease all production and assembly operations pending U.S. EPA and SCDES assessments on Monday. U.S. EPA and SCDES will begin on-site reviews Monday morning. SCDES will update this webpage to report the results of Monday’s assessment upon its completion.”

The district will continue to monitor this situation and receive updates from the appropriate authorities. School and district staff will continue to plan and prepare for any possible changes to our school operation, should they become necessary, to ensure student learning continues.
