Local authorities are investigating a Saturday morning shooting that left one person fighting for their life as reported by WSOC.
Emergency crews from MEDIC responded to reports of gunfire on Point Lookout Road shortly after 10:20 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound outside a residence near the lake.
The individual was treated at the scene for life-threatening injuries before being rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery.
As of Sunday, law enforcement officials have not released information regarding a possible motive or any potential suspects. The identity of the victim remains withheld pending family notification, and it is unclear if any arrests have been made in connection with the violence.
The neighborhood remained cordoned off for several hours on Saturday as investigators processed the scene. No further details regarding the circumstances of the shooting have been disclosed at this time.
