The historic Power House will soon serve as the home for Most Dope Coffee Co., a new artistic venture from local martial arts entrepreneurs Michael Mendoza and Wayne Martin. Set for a spring launch, the project was detailed in a report by WhatNow Charlotte.
The shop intends to blend traditional espresso offerings with flavors rooted in Filipino culture. Most Dope Coffee Co. plans to source the majority of its coffee beans directly from the Philippines, providing a unique profile that distinguishes it from standard area cafes.
The menu will feature several specialty items designed to introduce residents to ingredients synonymous with the Philippines. Signature selections include:
-
Filipino Sweet Tea: A beverage utilizing calamansi, a citrus fruit native to the islands.
-
Ube Beverages: Drinks featuring the distinct purple yam known for its vibrant color and sweet, nutty flavor.
-
Classic Espresso: Standard lattes, cappuccinos, and Americanos for traditional coffee drinkers.
The interior of the suite is being designed with an artistic atmosphere that pays homage to the founders’ upbringing during the 1980s and 1990s. Heavily influenced by hip-hop culture, the space aims to serve as a community hub capable of hosting local events and gatherings.
The name of the company reflects a specific era of slang, using the term to denote excellence and uniqueness. By creating a standout environment, the owners hope to provide a fresh alternative to the existing current coffee market.
Construction and interior work are currently underway at the Technology Center Way location. If the current timeline holds, the team expects to begin serving the Rock Hill community by March, establishing a new cultural anchor in the downtown redevelopment district.
