LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. – A 20-year-old man died late Monday night following a single-vehicle collision near the Lancaster County Airport, authorities confirmed Tuesday.
The crash occurred just after 11 p.m. on S.C. Highway 9, near the intersection with Grace Avenue. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling west in a 1999 Dodge pickup truck when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road.
Troopers state that the truck struck a ditch before colliding with a tree. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office described the victim as a 20-year-old male. His identity has not yet been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The collision remains under active investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office. No further details regarding the cause of the crash were immediately available.
