TEGA CAY, S.C. — A group of local youths is urging residents in Tega Cay to exercise caution after a terrifying encounter in the woods left them convinced they were stalked by something supernatural.
The report comes from a local student named Parker, who, along with friends Jeni, Mokshi, and Mathias, was exploring a storm drainage pipe deep in the woods earlier this week. What began as a standard afternoon of exploration quickly turned into a scene from a horror movie, culminating in video footage that Parker claims shows evidence of a “cryptid.”
The Encounter in the Pipe
According to the report submitted to the Tega Cay Sun, the group was deep inside a pipe when the atmosphere shifted drastically.
“We heard an extremely loud bang. It was too loud to be a water droplet,” Parker wrote. “We looked at each other and ran.”
It was during this retreat that Parker witnessed something unexplainable. While looking back toward the darkness of the pipe, Parker describes seeing footsteps manifesting in the water without a visible source.
“I looked back and saw something that chilled me to the bone. Footsteps in the water… I could make out ripples in the water side by side getting closer with each step.”
As the group scrambled to exit, the situation escalated. Parker reported hearing “loud bangs getting louder and louder,” while another member of the group, Mathias, experienced physical symptoms of the presence. Mathias reportedly heard a “low vibrating rumble” that stopped him in his tracks and caused a sudden, pounding headache as the trees around them began to sway.
Simultaneously, witnesses Mokshi and Jeni looked back to see water suddenly rushing out of what had been a previously dry pipe, prompting the group to flee the woods entirely.
The Second Sighting: “Glowing Eyes”
Despite the fear of the initial encounter, Parker returned to the location to gather evidence, filming a second video at the end of the pipe. It was only during the review of this footage that a chilling detail was discovered.
“I saw the craziest thing: Eyes!” Parker stated in an update. “Behind me, there were two glowing eyes! I am still in shock about this.”
Community Warning & Ongoing Investigation
Parker, who admits to previously being a skeptic regarding ghosts and cryptids, believes this encounter has changed everything. Citing rumors of similar sightings in nearby Rock Hill, Parker theorizes the entity may be a Wendigo—a mythological creature from folklore often associated with forests and deep wilderness.
Regardless of the nature of the entity, the group issued a direct warning to the Tega Cay community:
“I would like this to serve as a warning to anyone in Tega Cay to watch out and keep their pets inside.”
