South Carolina is positioning itself to become a national leader in advanced nuclear energy. Governor Henry McMaster and other top state leaders are scheduled to attend the South Carolina Nuclear Summit on Tuesday, which will focus on the state’s future nuclear landscape.
The summit will feature a series of fireside chats and panels discussing the potential for the state’s nuclear sector. Organizers describe this year’s event as a celebration of South Carolina’s emergence as a proving ground for America’s next nuclear era.
Key State Assets
The state’s nuclear prominence is anchored by several major assets, including the V.C. Summer site, the Westinghouse Fuel Fabrication Facility, the Savannah River Site, the Savannah River National Laboratory, and Joint Base Charleston.
These institutions collectively position South Carolina as the state most capable of advancing the national agenda for securing energy dominance, enhancing national security, and improving global competitiveness in the nuclear field.
The summit is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning in Columbia.
