Pets of the Week: Quintin B. Squintin and Kaylor Are Hoping for a Holiday Home

FORT MILL, S.C. — The Humane Society of York County is kicking off the week by spotlighting two special pets who are ready to find their forever families—just in time for the holidays.

Cat of the Week: Quintin B. Squintin

Quintin B. Squintin may be one year old, but he already has his signature look down. This sweet boy is easy to spot in the HSYC Cat Lounge—just look for the cat giving everyone the most charming squinty smile.

His unique eyelids give him an “I know I’m adorable” expression that wins over visitors instantly. Quintin arrived as a stray five weeks ago and, surprisingly, has not yet been adopted. He is neutered, vaccinated, tested, microchipped, and fully ready for a new life.

HSYC’s “Home for the Holidays” adoption event is now underway, offering 50% off adoption fees, making this the perfect time to meet Quintin and bring him home for the season.

Those interested can stop by the shelter or call 803-802-0902. Adoption requirements are available at humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org.

Dog of the Week: Kaylor

Kaylor is a beautiful terrier/lab mix with a gentle heart and a story to tell. Found as a stray in Rock Hill, her microchip traced back to an owner far outside South Carolina—but no one came to claim her.

Now safe at HSYC, this 2.5-year-old, 50–55 pound pup is ready for a fresh start. Kaylor has been gaining confidence through training classes at Zoom Room in Fort Mill, where she learned helpful new skills. She loves going on walks, playing with toys (and occasionally burying them for later), and spending time with her humans. She also gets along well with other dogs.

Kaylor is spayed, vaccinated, tested, microchipped, and waiting for the right person, couple, or family to give her the stability she deserves. To meet her, call 803-802-0902 or visit humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org for adoption guidelines.

Community Update

HSYC extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who supported the rescue on Giving Tuesday. The organization says community generosity continues to fuel its mission year-round.

Holiday Reminder: Pets Are Not Presents

With the gift-giving season approaching, HSYC encourages families to think carefully before adding a new pet during the holidays.

Adoption is a lifelong commitment, and the rescue does not support giving pets as surprise gifts. Instead, families are encouraged to make the decision together—and then enjoy preparing for their newest “FUR-addition” as a team.
