ROCK HILL, SC — The holiday season has officially arrived in Rock Hill! As of November 18, 2025, the Founders Holiday Ice Rink is open for business, transforming the heart of Old Town into a winter wonderland.
Located at 205 Saluda Street, directly across from the picturesque Fountain Park, the open-air rink has become a beloved tradition for families, couples, and skating enthusiasts looking to embrace the festive spirit. Whether you are a seasoned pro or stepping onto the ice for the first time, the rink offers a perfect backdrop for making holiday memories.
Rain or Shine Skating
One of the best features of the Founders Holiday Ice Rink is its reliability. The rink is covered by a large tent, ensuring that the fun continues regardless of rain, snow, or shine. While safety is always the top priority—and the rink may close during severe weather or unseasonably warm temperatures—skaters can generally plan their visits without worrying about a little winter drizzle dampening the mood.
Plan Your Visit
Here is everything you need to know before you head out to the ice:
-
Cost: Admission is $15 per person, which includes skate rental and 90 minutes of ice time. Both cash and card are accepted at the door.
-
Skates: Rentals are available for all ages. (Note: You can bring your own skates, but the admission price remains the same.)
-
Hours: Operating hours vary, particularly around school holidays and official holidays. Visitors are encouraged to check the official schedule or the rink’s Facebook page for the most up-to-date times.
-
Capacity: To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, the rink accommodates approximately 50 skaters at a time.
Know Before You Go
To make your trip as smooth as possible, keep these tips in mind:
-
Sock It To Me: Socks are mandatory for all skaters. If you forget them, you won’t be able to skate!
-
Bundle Up: Even on warmer South Carolina days, the ice is cold. Gloves are highly recommended to protect your hands if you take a tumble.
-
Leave Valuables at Home: There are no lockers or storage areas for personal belongings, so pack light.
-
Restrooms: Public restrooms are available directly across the street, but remember—you must remove your skates before leaving the rink area to use them.
Parking
Parking is plentiful in Old Town. Visitors can find hundreds of spaces within a block or two of the rink, including the Black Street parking lot and deck, as well as street parking along Main and Hampton Streets.
Get Out on the Ice!
With the holiday lights glowing in Fountain Park and the sound of skates carving the ice, there is no better place to soak up the magic of the season. Gather your friends and family and head to Old Town for an unforgettable outing.
