Celebrate Senior Sweethearts: Meet Barbosa & Nebbercracker!

It’s a Happy Monday and the Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is dedicating this third week of Senior Appreciation Month to two precious pets who need a little extra love and a comfortable, secure forever home.

Senior pets often bring a calm, established presence to a home, and both our Cat and Dog of the Week prove that age is just a number when it comes to being a loving companion!

🐈 Cat of the Week: Barbosa, the Honey Bunny

Don’t let the picture quality fool you—Barbosa is a stunning, bigger boy with beautiful buff and white markings! At just 8 years old, this handsome gentleman is still young enough to have a long, wonderful life ahead.

Barbosa’s story is one of heartbreaking transition. He recently came to HSYC because his owner faced hard times and became homeless. His previous owner made the selfless, loving decision to bring him to the rescue to ensure he would be cared for. It takes time for any cat to adjust to a new environment, especially for a senior leaving all he knows.

  • Adjustment Period: Barbosa is currently adjusting and deserves the patience and time needed to blossom into an amazing fur friend.

  • The Ideal Home: He is neutered, tested, vaccinated, and microchipped. Barbosa would thrive in a mature home where he can enjoy a safe, secure environment—perhaps sitting in a window and soaking up the sun—all while relishing the company of his HOOMAN.

If Barbosa’s sweet face and compelling story melt your heart, call HSYC TODAY at 803-802-0902 to learn more!

🐕 Dog of the Week: Nebbercracker, the Sweetest Cuddler

This sweet boy is Nebbercracker, and he is so much more than his name! Estimated to be just over 8 years old, Nebbercracker arrived at HSYC alongside his best friend, Constance, after their owner became homeless.

He and Constance are healing from some severe skin conditions, a process that will take time. But get past his initial appearance, and you will find an incredible soul:

  • Personality: Nebber is the absolute sweetest thing ever! He is a cuddler, loves his walks, and has a funny, charming personality.

  • A Light to Shine: While he loves his sister, he also enjoys getting all the attention to himself! Nebber is neutered, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped, and is eagerly WAITING TO MEET YOU. Let his little light shine—you won’t be able to NOT FALL IN LOVE!

If Nebber grabs your heart, call HSYC today at 803-802-0902 to make an appointment to meet him.

Adoption requirements and the process for both pets can be found on the HSYC website: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/.
