FORT MILL, S.C. — The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is shining a spotlight on two deserving residents this week: Jimmy Fallon, an affectionate young cat with a big purr, and Denise, a resilient dog who’s been waiting more than two years for her second chance. With the shelter operating over capacity, HSYC is also asking the community for help through adoptions, shares, and donations.
Cat of the Week: Jimmy Fallon
Peeking out from the Cat Lounge with curious eyes and gentle head nudges, Jimmy Fallon is a gray-and-white sweetheart, just over 1½ years old. Originally found as a stray and later surrendered through no fault of his own, Jimmy quickly wins people over with his friendly, talkative nature and comfort around other cats. He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested, and staff say that with a little time to decompress, he’ll show the kind of loyal affection that “melts your heart.”

Dog of the Week: Denise
Denise was abandoned at the rescue and has now spent more than 2½ years waiting—consistently overlooked despite her bright smile and full-body wiggles. Estimated at just over 4½ years old, she’s shy at first but blossoms with patience and would do best as the only pet so she can soak up all the love. Denise is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested, and she loves walks and little adventures. Rescue life isn’t where she can truly grow—she deserves a family.
