Yellow Jackets avenge lone regular-season loss to Northwestern with a 27–12 title win
Fort Mill High School made history on Monday night, October 20, 2025, winning the first-ever York County Girls Flag Football championship. The Yellow Jackets defeated Northwestern 27–12 in the final, avenging their only loss of the season and punctuating a statement year for a brand-new sport in the county.
Six teams took the field in the inaugural season; Fort Mill, Northwestern, South Pointe, Rock Hill, Catawba Ridge, and Nation Ford showcasing depth, speed, and a quick-learning curve that made for compelling week-to-week matchups.
Fort Mill entered the final night as the No. 1 seed and stayed on script, knocking off Rock Hill in the semifinal to book a spot in the championship. Northwestern advanced out of the other semifinal, setting up a marquee rematch that felt inevitable all season. In the title game, Fort Mill’s defense produced timely stops while the offense stacked scores in bunches, turning a tight early contest into a two-possession victory.
