FORT MILL, S.C. — The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) has named Mitsubishi the Cat of the Week and Bodega the Dog of the Week, spotlighting two adoptable animals ready to find their forever homes.
Mitsubishi is a black and brown male cat who has been at the shelter for 97 days after arriving as a stray. Estimated to be just over two years old, he is described by HSYC staff as calm, affectionate, and sociable—especially with other cats in the shelter’s Cat Lounge. Mitsubishi is neutered, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped, and is ready to be adopted.
Bodega is a six-month-old female dog who also came to the shelter as a stray. During her 37 days at HSYC, she has graduated from the Zoom Room training program and impressed volunteers with her intelligence and eagerness to learn. Her foster caregiver reports that she is highly treat-motivated and thrives with mental stimulation. Like Mitsubishi, Bodega is fully vetted and ready for adoption.
Prospective adopters can meet Mitsubishi and Bodega by contacting the HSYC at 803-802-0902. Adoption requirements and applications are available at www.humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org.
In addition to highlighting adoptable pets, the shelter encourages community involvement through volunteering, donations, and shopping at HSYC’s eBay store, holiday boutique, and PAWSibilities Thrift Shop & Boutique. Ongoing needs include clay cat litter, bleach, laundry detergent, and pet treats. Donations can be made online at the HSYC donation page.
So far in 2025, HSYC has successfully placed 610 pets—133 dogs and 477 cats—into permanent homes.
