Fort Mill High Marching Band Wins Charger Cup Grand Champion

CONCORD, N.C. — The Fort Mill High School marching band earned top honors at the Charger Cup this weekend, taking home the Grand Champion title after a strong showing against 17 other bands from across North and South Carolina.

Held at Cox Mill High School in Concord, the Charger Cup featured 18 marching bands competing across six divisions, with schools grouped by band size. Fort Mill competed in Class 6A, the largest classification, and swept the top awards in their group.

The Fort Mill band received first place in Class 6A, along with awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard. Their final score of 91.8 was the highest of the entire competition, securing the Grand Champion trophy.

This victory marks the second consecutive Grand Championship for Fort Mill this season. On September 27, the band earned the top prize at the Hickory Ridge Festival of Bands, also held in North Carolina.

The Charger Cup continues to grow in popularity as a fall showcase for high school marching bands in both Carolinas, drawing large crowds and strong competition each year. Fort Mill’s back-to-back wins highlight the program’s consistency and excellence as the season progresses.
