FORT MILL, S.C. — The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is highlighting two of its current residents — a calico cat named Chuckles and a young pup named Blair — in hopes of finding them loving forever homes.
Cat of the Week: Chuckles
Chuckles, a four-year-old calico, arrived at HSYC five weeks ago as an owner surrender. Staff describe her as confident and calm, with a strong personality and a preference for peaceful surroundings.
“She knows who she is and what she likes,” HSYC staff noted. Chuckles would thrive in a quiet home with adults or older children and would prefer to be the only feline companion. Her affectionate nature makes her a great match for someone looking for a calm, loyal cat to share their day with.
Dog of the Week: Blair
Blair, a six-month-old mixed-breed puppy, was brought to HSYC by local animal control two weeks ago. She’s described as sweet, active, and still adjusting to the shelter environment.
With medium-to-high energy, Blair is playful and eager to learn, though she will need a patient adopter who can provide structure and support as she adjusts to a new home. HSYC emphasizes that with time and consistency, Blair is likely to become a devoted companion.
All HSYC pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested (when age-appropriate), and microchipped before adoption.
To inquire about adopting Chuckles or Blair, contact the shelter at 803-802-0902 or visit www.humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org.
Support and Community Involvement
As a nonprofit organization, HSYC relies on community support. Donations of supplies and financial contributions are always welcome, and locals are encouraged to shop at the PAWSibilities Thrift Shop & Boutique or seasonal holiday stores. Items can also be purchased online through HSYC’s eBay store.
So far in 2025, HSYC has successfully placed 595 animals — 131 dogs and 464 cats — into permanent homes.
