Fort Mill High School Marching Band Wins Grand Championship at Hickory Ridge Festival of Bands

HARRISBURG, N.C. — The Fort Mill High School marching band earned top honors at the Hickory Ridge High School Festival of Bands on Saturday, September 27, securing the Grand Championship title among 23 participating bands from North and South Carolina.

Hosted at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg, the annual festival welcomed schools from across the region, dividing them into six competitive classes based on band size. Fort Mill competed in Class 6A, the largest classification, and swept every major category within its class.

The Fort Mill band won awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion, Best Color Guard, and Best Drum Majors. Their performance earned them 1st place in Class 6A and the overall Grand Championship, signifying the highest scoring band across all divisions.

This marks another strong showing for Fort Mill’s program, which has a longstanding tradition of excellence in regional and state competitions.

Next weekend, the band will continue its competitive season at the Charger Cup, hosted by Cox Mill High School in Concord, N.C.
