A pedestrian was struck and killed in a collision in York County on Wednesday night. The incident occurred on U.S. 21 Business near a local gas station, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian was walking on the side of the road when they were hit by a vehicle traveling north. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released, pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the York County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident. They have not released any information on the cause of the crash or if any charges will be filed.
