FORT MILL, SC — The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has released the latest test scores, and Fort Mill students once again performed at very high levels, highlighting our commitment to academic excellence and to providing a high-quality education for all students.
The SC Ready and End-of-Course (EOC) tests measure how students are performing, and Fort Mill students scored above the state average in every subject. Our district not only exceeded state results but also outperformed nearly every other district in South Carolina.
The district was recognized as one of the top-performing districts in the state, achieving or surpassing the 75% proficiency mark in multiple grade levels:
- ELA (Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8): All grades scored above 80%, exceeding the 75% proficiency goals. The district’s overall proficiency percentage increased from 77.3% to 82.2%
- Math (Grade 3 and 4): Exceeded the 75% proficiency goal.
- Math (Grades 3-8): The district’s overall proficiency percentage increased from 68.2% to 69.4%.
- High School – Algebra EOC: Increased from 68.27% of students scoring C or higher in 2023-24 to 74.52% in 2024-25.
Fort Mill also had the highest percentage of students in the entire state who meet or exceed expectations in English Language Arts at 82.2%.
These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff, and reflect the high standards we set for academics in the Fort Mill School District.
We will share a full analysis of these results at an upcoming school board meeting, but we wanted to provide this overview to our community now. Each school has already received detailed reports and is using the information to strengthen instruction.
“I’m proud of our students for what they’ve accomplished, and I’m grateful to the teachers and staff who work so hard to help them succeed,” said Superintendent Grey Young. “These scores are worth celebrating, but they’re also a reminder that our job is to keep reaching higher, making sure every child has the chance to succeed.”
We look forward to sharing a comprehensive breakdown of our SC Ready and EOC scores and to continuing our work to provide the best possible educational outcomes for all our students.
