South Carolina is the top relocation destination in the United States for 2025, according to new data from moving platform MoveBuddha. The state not only ranked first overall, but also placed three cities—Myrtle Beach, Greenville, and Charleston—among the top ten most popular U.S. cities to move to.
Myrtle Beach led the list of cities, with 255 inbound searches for every 100 outbound, making it the No. 1 relocation destination in the country. Greenville followed closely at No. 3 with 229 inbound searches per 100 outbound, while Charleston tied for the No. 8 spot with 168 inbound searches.
MoveBuddha analyzed over 55,000 searches on its Moving Cost Calculator from January 1 to March 10 to determine where people were most interested in moving. The rankings reflect a continued trend of Americans relocating to the Southeast for its affordability, climate, and lifestyle.

- Ocala, FL – 188 in / 100 out
- Chattanooga, TN – 168 in / 100 out
- Charleston, SC – 168 in / 100 out
- Vancouver, WA – 163 in / 100 out

- South Carolina – 218 in / 100 out
- Tennessee – 173 in / 100 out
- North Carolina – 161 in / 100 out
- Alabama – 156 in / 100 out

South Carolina’s continued rise as a relocation hotspot comes after also claiming the top spot in 2024. With its mix of coastal cities, scenic mountain towns, and booming mid-sized metros, the state is drawing newcomers from across the country in search of a better quality of life.
