Rock Hill Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison for Fentanyl Trafficking

Justin Lee Payne, 31, of Rock Hill, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis.

The investigation leading to Payne’s conviction began when he was arrested by York County Sheriff’s deputies on charges of trafficking fentanyl. During that arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at Payne’s residence. The search uncovered a significant quantity of illicit drugs, including more than 280 grams of fentanyl and 4 grams of methamphetamine.

Judge Lewis sentenced Payne to 180 months of imprisonment. Following his release, he will be subject to a four-year term of court-ordered supervision. It is important to note that parole is not available within the federal prison system.
