The York School District One Board of Trustees has unanimously voted 5-0 to approve Dr. Heath Branham as the district’s next Superintendent. His appointment is effective July 1, 2025.
Board Chair Scott Childers stated that the district had a strong pool of 31 candidates, ultimately narrowing it down to three excellent finalists. He expressed confidence that Dr. Branham is an ideal fit to advance the district, describing York as a unique and close-knit community. Childers emphasized that the board carefully considered input from community members and staff regarding district needs, believing Dr. Branham is a “molded fit” for the “York One family” and the right person to move the district forward positively given its current requirements.
Dr. Branham expressed his deep honor and humility in accepting the role, describing it as a calling and conveying his gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead. He characterized York One as a place of promise, built on tradition and a belief in every child’s potential. Dr. Branham stated his intention to lead with heart, humility, and high expectations, ensuring every student is known, supported, and challenged. He also committed to uplifting educators, building strong teams, and making decisions focused on the best interests of children, all through collaboration, trust, transparency, and a commitment to excellence.
