York School District Custodian Arrested Following Allegations Involving Student

YORK, S.C. — York School District confirmed that a former custodian has been arrested following allegations of inappropriate physical contact involving a student. According to a statement issued by the district, the arrest occurred on May 23, 2025, following prior notification from local law enforcement.

District officials reported that the custodian was initially placed on administrative leave on May 19, after the district was made aware of the allegations. The reported behavior was said to be in direct violation of district policies and professional conduct standards.

Upon learning of the situation, York School District immediately contacted local authorities and began cooperating with law enforcement. The custodian’s employment with the district ended as of May 20, 2025.

In its statement, the district emphasized its commitment to student safety and transparency, noting that no further information regarding the student involved will be released, citing privacy concerns.

York School District and its Board of Trustees stated that they continue to prioritize the well-being of students and adherence to board policies. The district remains engaged with law enforcement as the investigation proceeds and expressed its intention to complete the 2024–2025 academic year without further disruption.
