Fort Mill, SC – The Town of Fort Mill invites the community to join in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The event will take place on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Unity Cemetery, located at 303 Tom Hall Street.
The ceremony will feature a program of remembrance and tribute, including a welcome and special remarks from Fort Mill Mayor Guynn Savage. Members of the Fort Mill Town Council will participate in the reading of the names of fallen service members. The 2025 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Teen, Miss, and Mrs. Queens will also provide a reading during the event.
Scout Troop 219 will handle the posting and retirement of colors, while the American Legion Post 43 & Ladies Auxiliary will conduct the laying of the wreath and a traditional rifle volley. The National Anthem will be sung by Kimberly Long, and special music will be provided by Suite Strings CLT.
The Town of Fort Mill is also offering an opportunity for the community to specifically honor a fallen service member. Residents who wish to have the name, rank, and branch of service of a loved one who died in service read aloud during the ceremony can submit this information to [email protected] by Monday, May 19, 2025.
Parking will be available at the Fort Mill Utilities Department, located at 131 E. Elliott Street, which is near Unity Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be recorded and posted on the Town’s YouTube channel, @fortmilltv, at a later date.
The event is free to attend. The Town of Fort Mill will be offering complimentary lemonade and ice cream to attendees following the ceremony.
