YORK, S.C. — York School District’s Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center held its first-ever Firefighting Signing Day on May 9, celebrating three graduating seniors who have committed to careers in fire service.
Students Jacob Peters, Natalie Ramsey, and Lucas Mitchell were recognized during the event alongside representatives from the departments they will be joining after graduation. Peters signed with the York Fire Department, Ramsey with the Rock Hill Fire Department, and Mitchell with the Gaffney Fire Department.
The event highlighted the success of the center’s Firefighting Program, which prepares students for immediate entry into the workforce through hands-on training and partnerships with local emergency services.
York School District officials, fire department personnel, and family members attended the ceremony to support the students and celebrate their achievements.
The event is part of FDJTC’s broader effort to connect students with local industries and provide practical career pathways following high school graduation.
