York County Library to Host First-Ever Teen Open Mic Night Featuring Poetry and Jazz

A brand-new event at the York County Library is giving local teens the spotlight to share their creativity through poetry and music. The library’s first Teen Open Mic Night promises an evening of family-friendly spoken word and jazz, celebrating the voices of young performers.

Hosted by Rock Hill Youth Poet Laureate Genesis Medley and award-winning author, poet, and educator Carlo Dawson, the event invites teens ages 12 to 18 to take the stage with original poetry, spoken word pieces, or musical performances. While performers must be within the age range, all teens, friends, and family members are welcome to attend and enjoy the show.

The evening aims to provide a supportive space for self-expression and connection, encouraging young artists to showcase their talent and build confidence in front of a live audience.

Registration is required to perform, and interested teens can sign up online or call (803) 981-5870 for more information.
