Rock Hill School Board to Meet Tomorrow, January 14th

The Rock Hill School Board will hold its first regular meeting of 2025 tomorrow, January 14th, with a packed agenda that includes recognizing student achievements, welcoming new staff, and addressing important district matters.

Celebrations and Introductions

The meeting will kick off with a series of recognitions, highlighting the Northwestern High School football team’s recent state championship victory and Dutchman Creek Middle School’s re-designation as a “School to Watch.” Karen Roof will also be honored with the SC Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Honor Award. The Board will then formally introduce N’Gai Gaither, a new administrator joining the district.

District Business and Policy Review

Following the celebrations, the Board will dive into its action agenda, which includes:

  • Continuous Improvement Plans: Reviewing and approving turnaround plans presented by Dr. Kershena Dickey, Dr. Katie Barber, and Ms. Alicisa Johnson.
  • Policy BE – Board Meetings: Conducting a second reading and gathering feedback on revisions to the policy governing Board meetings.

Financial and Superintendent Reports

Attendees can expect a presentation on the FY 2023-2024 financial audit by Ms. Terri Smith, followed by the Superintendent’s report, which will include district announcements.

Closed Session and Public Participation

The Board will hold an executive session to discuss confidential personnel matters, including breaches of contract and a mid-year evaluation of the Superintendent.

The meeting will also include a designated period for citizen participation, allowing members of the public to address the Board.

The meeting will be held at the Rock Hill Schools District Office at 386 East Black Street.
