Helen Dawkins Obituary

Fort Mill, SC – Mrs. Helen Bigham Dawkins, 77, went home to be with he Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at some point in the future.

A native of Chester, SC Mrs. Dawkins was a daughter of the late Coleman L. Bigham and Mary Louise Brown Bigham.  She was a graduate of Kings College.  She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.  She was the owner and manager of Dawkins Poodle Haven in Fort Mill.  Her work involved dog grooming and boarding.  She will be remembered as a very giving person.  She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill and later in life a member of Fort Mill Community Church, Fort Mill.  One of her favorite places was her lake house which was located on Lake Wateree.

Surviving are her husband, Jimmie Dawkins; a daughter, Tammie Dawkins-Moore and her husband, Brett; and two grandchildren, Briana Moore Rayano and her husband, Will and Brogan Moore.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Sarah’s Fund, c/o White Rose Veterinary Clinic, 1420 Alexander Love Hwy , York SC 29745

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
