The arrest followed a joint investigation by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office and local law enforcement as part of their ongoing efforts to combat internet crimes against children.
Zimmer faces charges including the possession, distribution, and production of CSAM. The investigation uncovered evidence suggesting the individual was engaged in online activities involving explicit material depicting minors. Authorities seized electronic devices from Zimmer’s residence for forensic analysis, which revealed numerous illegal files.
The case highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between state and local agencies to address cybercrimes involving minors. Attorney General Alan Wilson reiterated the state’s commitment to prosecuting such offenses, emphasizing the devastating impact they have on victims and communities.
Zimmer is currently being held at the York County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. If convicted, he could face substantial prison time, fines, and registration as a sex offender.
